Overview

The virgin land to discover Mt. Everest by where you can feel astonishing and amazing scenic view of the highest peak of the world mount Everest with scenic view of whole Everest region and many others mountain of the region. Many Trekkers call it as best point to witness Everest. Even Sir Edmund Hillary claimed it as his favorite spot to enjoy Everest. The name Pikey is derived from local Sherpa Clan deity which represents the sky over the nature.

The vantage called pikey peak with 4200m elevation from the sea level. The peak is not famous only for mountain views also it has varieties of vegetation, flora and fauna such as Rhododendron a national flower of our country and multi-cultural communities such as you can observe the rare mountains people and their life styles, culture and habitation.

It is very famous route for the people who has problems with high altitude. It is very short trekking to discover mount Everest. You have two options for the trekking, if you want by flight you can have flight Phaplu airport which takes 30 minutes from Kathmandu and another option is overland, drive via Dhulikhel and Khurkotwhich takes 6-hour drive from Kathmandu.

Pikey Peak Trek – Best Season

We recommend you to trek pikey peak is mostly in two season that is Autumn and Spring September – December during autumn and February – June during spring are the best time of the year for Pikey Peak Trek. These seasons are known for wonderful weather and excellent views.

Autumn brings happiness in Nepal as the major festival of Nepal falls in this season. Likewise, the spring is the time of joy with different flowers blooming around the entire country.

Monsoon brings heavy rainfall in Nepal; inviting the threat of landslide and flood. Moreover, the trail will be slippery and leeches will encroach you throughout the forest trail. But this season might be perfect for keen botanist as the entire trekking trail will be filled with lush vegetation. The extremely cold temperature in winter might not be perfect for every trekkers. If you are willing to trek Pikey Peak in winter, we suggest you to check the availability of tea house at higher altitude. The tea house often remains closed; as people migrate to lower elevation to escape cold and snow.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu.
Day 02 Drive or flight from Kathmandu – Phaplu  7  hour/ 35 minutes (2413 m)
Day 03: From Phaplu to Junbesi , 2675m, 7 Hour
Day 04; Junbesi  – Jase Bhanjyang (2675 m) 5 Hour
Day 05: Pikey Peak  base camp (3640m)  6 hour
Day 06: Pikey– Jhapre (2,928m) 5 Hour
Day 07: Jhapre to  Dhap(2800m)
Day 08: Dhap to Kathmandu 6 hour drive
